Possibly looking for a BROKEN pres. exch. solenoid

Post by Legacy777 »

With the bigger turbo, the stock solenoid won't work, and I want to do the resistor thing to make the ECU happy.

I'd like to make a plug n play harness, and don't really want to cut up a perfectly good working PES. Anyone have a broken one??

Or possibly know of a similar style connector somewhere else on the car?

Thanks
Josh

Why won't the stock pressure exchange solenoid work with the TD05?

Because the stock sensor only reads up to 13.7PSI or something

But that's not the pressure exchange solenoid. That's the MAP sensor.

I thought it was an integrated unit?

MAP sensor reads pressure provided by PES, which switches between manifold pressure and atmospheric pressure.

I know what each of them do, I just thought it was two parts of the same unit.

Nope. Sorry, but my original question still stands.

I went through my "Box-O-Harness-Plugs", and I don't see anything that would work other than the original plug on the unit. I don't have a broken one but it can be arranged, :smt047

I'm sorry....I called it the wrong thing.....it's the wastegate solenoid that I want....not the PES.

The PES & boost sensor will work fine....it's the stock wastegate control that won't really work right, since the the ECU want's to cut boost at 8.7 psi....and the wastegate spring doesn't open until 11 or 13 psi.

Anyway....I was looking at things this weekend, and turns out the wastegate solenoid & tranny resistor have the same plug, so it should be pretty easy to tweak things.

You can plug the resitor in directly where the Waste-Gate Soleniod was and it will keep you from getting a CEL. Careful it gets HOT.
