Exactly, that's why it's a waste of a perfectly good EJ22 in a piece of shit Vanagon :)

Ditto. Give the EJ22 a good home.

I went with my friend to a Volkswagen(sp?) meet and there was a dune buggy with a 2.5 in it and a bug with a WRX motor. It made my day.

Was the bug black? I've seen pictures and vids of one that was just bad-ass. The intercooler was mounted as part of the rear wing-frickin huge, but cool.

That engine would be happier as a coke can.

Well, just easier I guess. Would an old front wheel drive be able to handle the power made by a turbo engine? There has to be a reason why only the turbo engines were on leggys with AWD.

What self respecting subaru owner would walk into a showroom and say "I want a turbo legacy, but none of that all wheel drive business for me. I want my car to be like a turbo accord."?

^^ Indeed, that would be a super-weak thing to walk into a Subaru showroom and say.

I love watching hosers with 75 more hp than me fight wheelspin as I lose them in the rearview mirror. My buddy's turboed VR6 Jetta really puts out some power, but is only effective when he can put it to the ground. Although there's something to be said about breaking 'em loose while doing freeway speeds.

chirp? CHIRP? We're talkin one wheel wonder smokin like a biatch from 55 to 100. Nobody wonders why his tires are always bald and he's always swapping the good ones for the bad. He's seen cords more times than a harp player.

With a good front LSD there's no reason a FWD turbo setup can't be a good performer. Granted, a RWD or AWD version would be more beneficial, at least the FWD wouldn't be a one-foot wonder.
