Hey guys, havn't posted here in a loooooong time. I was wondering if anybody had any experiance drilling out/cutting off/etc the steering wheel locking mechanism that's tied to the ignition key. Reason is, I'm switching over to a pushbutton start and would like to be able to drive the car without having to insert the ignition key.

I already found this thread where there's a diagram posted, but the service manual instructions are vague at best.

Would it be possible to drill out the locker pin from the front using a nice titanium drill bit without removing the whole clamp assembly, or am I going to have to attack it with an angle grinder?

A guy on nasioc inserted a key and turned it to on and grinded down the part sticking out of the mechanism and covered it. This effectively bypasses all of that and you can install switches for acc / power / start. Your car will be more like a F14 and get you mad honeys.

Yeah, the problem is getting at the mechanism in the first place :(
