BAck in 1992 I took a 1992 FWD wagon to 130 mph. Which is about 117 mph when you account for wheel diameter versus actual speed.

Current ride has gone over 100 many many times, but only on the drag strip.

About a month ago I had the 05GT up to 120 on a freeway onramp one night. Don't think that quite counts, though. ;)

About 107mph. Interesting on blown struts and 70 series tires.
Private race track of course.

Is this a NA only thread?

I've done over 65 m/s on a very long straight behind a much more powerful and very large car knocking a hole in the air. By itself it accelerates pretty slow around 60 m/s, never really ran it out except for that one time on the track.

My old 93' FWD topped at 116 mph with the original engine and when I put a fresh one it registered 120 and still pulling slightly when I ran out of room on the straight. These were indicated speeds and I do figure they were slightly off but the tires I was running were larger than the originals.

Umm...105 - 10.5 = 94.5

So, 94.5 is the fastest I've gone in my car.

I've done 120 mph through the Mt. Baker tunnel here in Seattle, just after the I90 floating bridge. Stock 15" rims so I think it was 120 mph...

Only hit 115mp once on the track. Bremerton raceway, braking late, AND going straight through on the corner run out. Probably 110mph was the max to the braking point there but I'd been doing 110mph all day and I thought "what the heck?"... It took me that extra bit of track to get there, enough to miss the corner...

No harm, no foul, tho.

Cheers,
Adam

130mph on worn out (threads showing) tires. Didn't know it at the time, oops! 17's w/ 45 series tires.

70. just like the speed limit signs tell me to.

6700 rpm at the top of 4th gear. So that comes out to, what, about 140mph or so? That was with the dogbox, just testing things out. Nice flat straight away. Trans was CRAZY loud at that speed!

I saw an indicated 133 dead even with a 323i. Fwd N/A. My friggin' Mazda's governed to 115 where it slams against the limiter.

im a bit of a wus to try and push my car to those speeds, my mom and sis are always getting tickets so im catious alot, i dont get out on highways and have fun, i stay in the service roads, only get up to about 70mph in the service roads (limit 35) but i think its a bit more fun than a straight line, i like all the twist an turns, it also just looks a whole lot better than a highway

oh yeah, i found a typo, its not a service road or highway, i meant my private race track that i too have, i keep it in a secret place were no one can find it

I did about 136 down a big-ass hill. (Uh, it was on a Rocky Mountain racetrack. ) Fastest NAs go on flat ground is 120.

My dad's Forester is limited at 110, which is annoying because the EJ25 had plenty of grunt left at that speed and the gearing was tall enough.

Seriously, I'm thinking about calling BS on you N/A guys.

My car can do 112, just like the magazines say. No more.

That's windows-up, A/C-off (or not working  ), pedal-to-the-floor for about 15 seconds straight. Right at 5krpm IIRC. On a highway, flat as can be like all of FL, no wind.

I don't know how much you notice this down in FL but I do that my engine performs distinctly better in the winter than in the summer. I also know that my indicated speed is likely to be off a little considering the car is as old as it is. However, I do know that is what I saw indicated. On my old closed course there was a straight that was a great indicator of speed carried through the entering turn because I'd indicate 110 before braking, very routinely. And I was braking with the engine still pulling slightly. So I firmly stand by my claims.

I will add one more thing to this arguement. NA FWD's have 3.7 gearing and you have to drop down in 5th to top out, I ran out 4th. NA's also have better low end torque than the turbos so they can better offset the need for torque to the wheels to offset the drag but not neccesarily the power to really accelerate much, but given a long enough straight it might just be able to out do the turbo? This is just a theory and having never driven or riden in an SS take it for what it's worth.

Mike, you have a lemon. I can see 120 with 8:1 compression on a speedo that's accurate according to radar signs at least up to 90 mph.

My old EA81 5MT would top out in 4th, but I got past 4th and into 5th, still going back when I saw 133. Now I hit the same top speed in 4th or 5th. (well, not right now as its sitting in the garage doing nothing right now)

Huh? :smt017

Na's generate more torque than a turbo below 2500 (from the dyno graphs we have). Not really going to help you on a top speed run. And the turbo is already putting down 20+ ft/lbs over the NA by 3500. Plus I'm sure you know the turbo will put down more horsepower. Horespower determines top speed.

So if you race from rolling at idle... you will gain a wheel during the half second the turbo spools up and then the turbo will take off and not look back. And these numbers are from a bone stock turbo vs. a modded NA.

*Disclaimer* - I am not a turbo Legacy elitist. But I have never had a 2.5RS with over a thousand dollars of engine mods even come close to me and they supposedly have MORE horsepower from the factory. I have raced more than a handlful of modded 2.5RS's and I can't imagine a heavier car with less power even standing a chance. I can only go from my experience and the numbers we have.

Lets just say that I've reached the end of the needle, and still gone farther. Following behind one larger way more powerful car and one car incredibly similar to mine creating a nice little hole in the atmo. And I was on Toyo Proxes RA1 (sp?)
