Sti trim ring and boot in 92 legacy touring wagon?

Hey guys just did this little mod today,

Turned out ok... The ring doesn't quite fit as flush as I was hoping, I couldn't figure out a way to REALLY attach the ring to the stock legacy plastic trim piece. I had to cut the factory plastic trim to fit the sti trim ring. It barely fits but I am satisfied! I glued the pleather boot to the factory plastic, then went and got some longer bolts at the hardware store that screw in with an allen wrench, also 6 nuts and 6 washers. Simply poked holes in the pleather and then bolted it in. Now I just need to lower the shifter rod a little bit. The Prodrive knob actually makes it even higher up.

Yeah I think that looks really good. That may be what I'll need to do to finally get the boot secured on my setup.

the big problem is... The trim ring is not actually secured to the plastic piece at all. But it is being held in with the boot. But the boot is only glue on with krazy glue. But I think it will hold because I glued it silly. There is no way to make it so the sti trim ring will actually bolt to the platic piece. Its hard to explain, ya'll would understand if u saw the back of the trim ring though. I don't think the trim ring is going anywhere though... As long as no one pulls on it haha

You could use metal strips under the plastic as braces you could bolt through.

Thought about it but it wouldn't work too well either.
