Hey everyone! I have been here long enough that I might
as well introduce myself.
About 4 months ago, I went up to Seattle and I bought a 93 White
Legacy Turbo 5-speed, with 48,000 miles on it. What an awsome car!!!
I have been reading the forums on the I-club for a long time, and it
is great to finally have a group dedicated to our specific car.
No more trying to relate impreza stuff to the legacy! I have the JC
sports intake on for now, but am waiting for someone to come out with
a better way of running the tubing for better cold air. I talked to
Matt awhile ago about something like that (Hey Matt). But my MAIN
question is, what kind of exhaust is everyone else running? I know
Matt had a 3-inch downpipe made by rallispec, is anybody else
intrested in that, maybe we could get them to produce some more?
Also, before I shutup, what kind of mufflers does everyone have? I
want something that is not too loud, but has a nice growl. Thanks for

What's up Zak! 48,000 miles?!?! I hate you

Anyways, a good custom exhaust shop can probably make you a downpipe using
your old turbo flange, that's basically what RalliSpec did for me. Or you
can buy a used 3" downpipe from the MRT classifieds for cheap, but shipping
may hurt on something like that. Then just get the rest of the exhaust made
by any exhaust shop. Cost wise it shouldn't be too bad. Or, chances are when
the WRX gets here, you will have your choice of downpipes from many
differenent places, providing the Turbo flange is still the same. I'd go
with a 3" system, regardless of who or where you get it from, but that's
just me.

As far as mufflers, the dynomax bullet is very deep and grumbly, and for
$37.00, if you don't like it, you can sell it, I'm sure someone will buy it


Any luck yet getting an intercooler?

What does your JC Sports intake look like (what was included, materials
used, etc)? As some people here know, I ordered one and I felt that it was
unusable (at least, not without as much effort as it would take me to design
and build my own). I've had my Legacy Turbo for about as long as you have,
so I'm curious if we got the same thing, seeing as we must have ordered them
around the same time.

Out of curiosity, who else has the JC Sports intake for the Legacy Turbo?

I have a prototype of their new design. It is a solid metalic tube vs the
plastic one many may have gotten. It should be in production soon.

When I first started making inquires in June of this year to JC Sports about
their intake, they sent me a picture of what they said was their prototype.
I've attached that picture. They said that the actual production piece was
going to be white plastic instead of the black metal piece shown in the
picture. I figured whether it was plastic or metal made little difference so
long as it fit like the one in the picture and so I ordered one based on that
picture. What they sent me was some worthless plumbing supplies! I'm curious
to know if anyone else got the same thing?

FYI That is the very first prototype I had. The cost to mass produce them
was way over what they wanted and therefore the plastic was used (at least
that is what I heard). The new proto I have does not look as sturdy as the
first one I had yet more solid then plastic.

Nigel, mine looks nearly identical for the one in the picture you sent,
except that mine is only one size in diameter, where as the one in you
picture looks like it is larger on the MAF side to equal the MAF's diameter,
then funnels down to equal the size of the rest of the intake.

If enough of you guys are interested, I can see if the guy who whipped mine
up will make knock out a few more. However, you will need the air filter and
MAF adapter, silicone connectors and clamps, and you would have to make your
own bracket( I simply used a few zip ties. Hey, it works). What I would
provide is simply the intake pipe. Like I said, if enough of you guys are
interested, I will check with him as soon as I get a chance and see what
he'd make a few for. I would assume it would be under $30.00 for the acutal
intake pipe, but that's just a guess. Just drop me an e-mail at
