noise when accelerating in reverse

got my 93 fwd back from garage where I got the engine from my 94 put into it. Seems to drive okay in forward gears. when you put in reverse and give it some gas there is a noise like that is speed sensitive seeming to come out of the tranny. sounds like a metallic rumble, rattle. I thought maybe an axle so I slightly brake torqued in reverse and same noise. any ideas. the 93 probably has 280,000 klms on the tranny.. Can an awd tranny be converted to run on a fwd?

AWD can be converted to run FWD, but that won't change anything.

I assume it's an automatic, and since the engine was swapped, I'd be willing to bet that the torque converter bolts might not be properly torqued.

thx for reply, just a further note-it is an automatic and the noise only seems to happenwhen you acclerate in reverse, not when just going in reverse at an idle. the reason I asked about using an awd tranny is because I have a perfectly good one from the other car if this fwd tranny is no good. When you say the awd tranny can be modified to run just a fwd, what's involved as far as time and expense?

I was actually thinking of the 5MT being able to be converted from AWD to FWD. Sorry.
