Yeah, the Japan models got glass headlight lenses, and I believe had a small portion of it that lit up sorta like a euro style driving/parking light.
Notice how the lense is so much clearer then most of the ones you see in the states. Damn lexon fogging....

Damn, I feel really jipped now. I wonder if they'd be a direct swap? Did all of the legacy's come with them in Japan? Anyone?

Direct swap...probably...but left handed car = different light alignment...so wont be ok for North America cars...

That is one sweet car!! Perfect front end, GT-B rims, awesome!
Couldn't you make up for different light alignment by simply adjusting them?
This is just a picture from Yahoo right? not for sale or anything...

OH my gosh!
What a can of worms I have opened!!
The guy was selling the front lip under the "Not available here" front bumper, it was fibreglass and broken, but - sweet picture anyway.
Yes, Glass headlights - looks like an H4 Bulb, and a "city light" on the outside of the lens, side light is the signal light.
Want to see more - lots of wonderful inspiration in JP!
Requests please?
I am in Canada - love the universality of the internet!

I wonder if the European market ever got the glass lenses? That way it'd be LHD. Any ideas?

Pictures of the 1992/4 model glass light, shows the city light.
I am sure EDM lights are glass - only the wimpy US models get the substandard lighting.
But I am sure we have saved ourselves a fortune in potential replacements....

SO.....
After terrific cost and losing several glass headlights in the shipping
I finally have the complete front set.
headlights - LHD - don't panic, I will modify them for here, and the side corner lights.
I also got the grill from that car - off the auction.
I put one in briefly last week, and what a difference in light... more direct and focused than the bright spot we get here in the USDM model.
Now if I could get EDM.....
Everything bolts in - except the plugs are different
Two bulbs in each unit - h4 and small city light in the headlight, and two bulbs for signal on the corner light.
What should I do - how should I wire them?
I currently have both corner lights wired to blink with the signal, but since they are single filament bulbs, there is no corner parking light. I wired up the city light, but it is on the front.... So I have no parking light visable from the side.
I disabled the front signal for future fog light placement.
I have a 91 Turbo.
Comments please!

UK cars have glass headlights too but that doesn't solve the wrong aiming problem...
I like the grille too. Anyone know where to get one?

headlights - LHD - don't panic, I will modify them for here, and the side corner lights.
I presume you mean RHD... LHD is what he have in North America.
How do you plan on modifying them? The optics consist both of a mask and a fluted lens.
I put one in briefly last week, and what a difference in light... more direct and focused than the bright spot we get here in the USDM model.
Yes, the beam pattern is much, much better than the 90-91 USDM lights. It's actually very similar to the 92-94 USDM lights (except yours are mirror images).
Two bulbs in each unit - h4 and small city light in the headlight, and two bulbs for signal on the corner light.
What should I do - how should I wire them?
Take a 9004 bulb, cut it apart, and use the base part as a connector. Solder some wires in there and connect them to a 9003/H4 socket. Basically, you're creating a 9004-to-H4 adapter.
It would be better, if you're up to it, to use the signal from the 9004 socket to drive a relay and power the H4 bulbs with a phat wire from the battery or alternator.
I currently have both corner lights wired to blink with the signal, but since they are single filament bulbs, there is no corner parking light. I wired up the city light, but it is on the front.... So I have no parking light visable from the side.
I believe that is how the EDM and JDM cars are, except that they have side repeaters (92-94 USDM Legacies have them but they don't act as turn signals). The city lights are only visible from the front, and the corner lamps are turn signals only. The idea is that the turn signal is clearer since it's going "bright-off-bright-off" instead of "bright-dim-bright-dim."

Okay so let me get this straight, on the JDM there is only the headlight on in the front and then the light on the side of the front fender and the corner lights aren't on until you use the blinker? Or is it that the headlights and side front fender light are on, and the front part of the corner lenses are on but blink intermittenly when you use the blinker? Or is there something else? From what I understand on the 90-91 USDM the headlights and both parts of the cornerlights are all on, but when you hit the blinker the front bottom blinker and side of the corner lights blink, is this correct?

Uhm... I'm not 100% sure on this car specifically (I'm just speaking from what I know of ECE standards and from other cars), but, I believe it is like this. 4 bulbs per side, with these functionalities:
Headlamp bulb - high and low beams
City light bulb inside headlight - parking light
Corner light - turn signal
Small side light - parking light (maybe also turn signal, not sure)
From what I understand on the 90-91 USDM the headlights and both parts of the cornerlights are all on, but when you hit the blinker the front bottom blinker and side of the corner lights blink, is this correct?
No. The 90-91 USDM corner lights don't blink at all. It's like this:
Headlamp bulb - high and low beams
Corner light - parking light
Lower bumper-mounted light - turn signal
It's a clear (but acceptable in North America) deficiency that the turn signal is invisible from the side.
