Pics of the Impreza OBS

Here's some pics of the 1997 Impreza OBS Wagon I picked up on ebay last week. I flew into Chicago, picked it up, and drove it home on Friday. It drove fine. It needs a little cleaning, and stuff, but a good platform.

I started tearing into things yesterday. There was a stereo system installed in it. It was installed so poorly....I pulled it out, and just kept going. The interior is gutted right now. I'm going to clean everything up and put it back together.

Here are some pics

So what are your plans for this little beast?

It's going to be my daily driver, so nothing really much. I'm upgrading the shifter bushings because I detest how it feels. Other then that, I'm just going to do maintenance to make sure everything's good.

I will probably upgrade the rears to disc brakes, put SS lines on, and get decent pads.....but we'll see. I need to restrain myself from doing anything crazy.

haha g/l with that... i have a 1994 impreza wagon as a daily now, i started out not going to do anything to it and so far it has a cat-back exhaust and a v1-v4 front bumper, a RS hood, and a hatch spoiler

it looks like you got a nice car, wanna trade interiors? i know how much you like tan :)

Looks nice Josh. I've been wondering why all the questions about phase II and such.

A wise car for a daily, and while I agree you ought to have one that isn't modded... there's no need to lie to yourself about the brakes ;).

How many miles, and what's gonna become of the truck?

I agree, resist the urge. I dunno how, but it's my daily driver that also has become my (semi) speed car.

That is until I get my turbo engine built

Chicago to Houston is quite the test drive.

Good luck keeping it unmodified.

Yeah....the way I drive, irregardless of power....gotta have good brakes.

It's got 134,100 miles on it now after the drive down to Houston. The truck is getting sold when I get the car up and running good.

I don't think I'll be doing anything crazy with this car, probably just some minor stuff to improve the driving.

Don't worry about the rear drums. The braking is solid and well balanced on my MY00 Impreza L wagon (stock drums on the rear, WRX fronts). I'm sure I'd see some fade if I tracked the car, but let's be realistic. It seems to me that swapping the drums out on a daily driver is a cosmetic upgrade. Not worth the trouble, and the money & time could be better spent on other items. I'm sure there will be some that disagree with me on this.

Looks like a good DD for you. I love mine.

Yikes! You call that "a little cleaning"? j/k. You can come clean my car any day. And I'll even throw in a few more coins. :D No, seriously, great job! There's nothing like KNOWING you've got a clean car and you know exactly what you've got.

And, to echo the sentiments of many, are you sure you won't be improving it any (besides the upgraded brakes)? Better braking also = better tires = bigger rims = etc. :D

Have fun!

You're probably right about the Drums. I do want to upgrade the fronts. Once I do that, I'll decide about the drums.

I added a few more pics too.

Did you find all that money in the car? Quite a stash of booty!
