EJ20G Swap - Cam sensor getting 3 signals (instead of 4)

Hey,
We're still trying to isolate the problem, that's causing my ECU to get 3 ignitior signals instead of 4 in my EJ20G.
Since it seems that the cam sensor is only getting 3 signals (instead of 4), we're starting to wonder if it might be a faulty cam sprocket. The right-top cam sprocket (closest to the cam sensor) has 4 notches, whose position the cam sensor picks up. What if one of those notches was somehow bent and the sensor wasn't receiving the signal.
Could this be THE problem?
Thanks,
P.

...After reading a couple of posts, I came accross this one:
http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic. ... m+sprocket
It makes me think that we might've screwed up one of the notches on the crank sensor during the timing belt installation.
Could I use a USDM 2.5 RS DOHC crank sprocket on my JDM EJ20G?

...any suggestions? If someone could suggest what this "missing spark" on 3rd cylinder could be caused by, it'd be great
I really hope that it'll fire up on all 4 after we replace the crank and driver-side cam sprockets.
Thanks,
PC

Hi Pete , sorry that I keep busy to reply back to you.
For your problem, have you check the ignitor ?
Have you sure you are using the correct ignitor for your coil since its from SVX, you may have to use the SVX one to make it work!!!
I haven't use any of the coil pack from the EJ20G since I using the stock EJ22T wiring, I didn't have any missing spark problem.
Eventhough I swap to EJ20H engine, I still using the EJ22T wiring and it seems no problem after 5 weeks of driving in all condition in Toronto!

Ben,
We've checked the ignitor on all channels (it's got 6 and we only need 4). It seems like the ECU isn't getting the signal to fire the 3rd ignition channel. Any ideas on what could be causing that?
Thanks,
PC

Pete,
I too have been too busy to reply to your PM. Can you post pictures of your ignitor wiring? My first thought is that maybe you mis-wired it?
I do actually have a spare SVX ignitor that I could send you if you want to try that. We could work something out for it. I paid through the nose for it, but that was 2+ years ago during my first swap and I'd let it go for freight plus a few $$$....

Hi All,
Thanks for all your replies

I've got the '98 2.5 RS crank and cam sprockets ready to be installed. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to work on the car this weekend, but the next time I'm at the shop I'll take pictures of the Ignitor wiring and I'll whip-up a wiring diagram for everyone to verify.
In the meantime, if anyone else has any ideas on what else could be causing the ECU to be sending out signal on 3 out of 4 ignition channels, please share.
Thanks,
PC
