donor car compatability

i have 94 ss and i am getting ready to do the SWAP this weekend and i have a few questions. the donor car is 95 or a 96 legacy. does it matter what size motor it has? and can i use the trans crossmember out of the donor or do i need to get one from a 94. thanks for all your help. joe
