I own a 92 Legacy Sport, obviosly turboed, with 159K. Are there any bolt on mods for the turbo like blow off valves, Boost controller, bigger wastegate, etc?

Not exactly :P

There wasnt much of an aftermarket for our cars, but any turbo that came on a subaru will bolt right up. Such as the:
VF10, VF12, VF8, VF22, TD05-16G, TD04 bla blah bla...

I think pretty much any boost controller will work but don't bump the boost up without getting an intercooler first.

Can't get a bigger wastegate because its integrated into the turbo itself.

Just do some searching around here on whatever you'd like to alter on your car. The TD05-16g turbo is an awesome upgrade in itself. But if you aren't willing to do any custom fab work or creative DIY stuff yourself then you probably should find a shop or get a different car. ;)

So if I got my hands on any of those turbos listed above, would they bolt right up?

For the most part, many of those turbos werent made for the legacy so they dont have a 90 degree inlet tube like you do on your stock VF11 turbo.

Older TD05-16g's will have the 90 degree inlet, I think all VF8's, VF12's and VF10's also have that 90 degree inlet. If you get one with the straight inlet you simply need to adapt it using a 90 degree rubber or silicone hose.

Just search for the info if you are considering a turbo upgrade. I would suggest a TD05 but they are hard to find.

To correct myself I shouldnt say "made for the legacy" but instead made for the legacy layout.

The thing is, with our turbo layout the inlet piping doesnt run under Cylinder 1 and 3's intake manifold runners like it does on the WRX/STI/FXT and so on. So you need to somehow connect the inlet to the piping coming from the Air Filter/MAF if you choose to buy a turbo with the straight inlet.

Its pretty easy if you ask me, you just need to make sure you've got all the right parts and dont pay too much for them. (A good 90 degree silicone hose can cost you around $50)

You are also going to want to take into account the differences in water/oil lines coming from and to the turbo. I cannot give you any rock solid info on these but if you do some searchs with keywords like "td05 install" or something like that I am sure you can find what you need to know in order to make the install go as smoothly as possible.

VF39 bolts up, and is a huge improvement. Local raced a stock 06 STi with his legacy, and the only mods he has are the exhaust, VF39, boost controller, and meth kit, and he pulled on the STi.

What is a meth kit?

Any turbo that came on a Subaru EJ motor will bolt up on any other EJ with the exception of the twin turbos. You may come across some old EA82T turbos for sale claiming to be VF28's (one on RS25.com right now) but they will not work and are in no way an upgrade.

Meth injection. Its a spray kit that sprays in 100 octane fuel, so that you can run tunes that require more octane, and more fuel, without the need for larger injectors. It also cools intake temperatures.

The downside, you have to make sure your meth tank is full, or else you can pop your engine very easily.
