I performed the self diagnosis for existing problems I'm getting a long & a short power lite flash I'm thinking it means code 21 Is that right? Thats the ATF temp sensor. What its doing is when you stop for a lite and to go forward again it's best to let start to creep and then it takes off like it should. If you just give it throttle it seems like it was in 2 or 3 and will abruptly drop to 1 with a thud and then it's allright till the next stop. If you were to put it in reverse and move an inch and put it back in drive it works fine. The trans shop said it's probably shift solenoid. I dont know now. Thank you for any info Al

ATF temp sensor is attached to the OUTSIDE of the transmission, meaning it is a very simple and cheap repair. If i remember correctly the sensor is near the shifting mechanism area, on the passenger side near the pan. It is held in place by a bolt/clamp
I have a good used one btw.

Josh code 11 is duty solenoid A. In the Sub wire diagram it does'nt call it that its shift solenoid #1 #2 #3 line pressure lock up 4WD&car speed sensor 4WD or car speed sensor1fwd. can you just go to subaru and buy a new one? I talked to a trans man & he said the solenoids come all together is that right? Al

Josh I purchased the solenoid kit I dropped the valve body and then I realized I took too many bolts out. When it came down some springs and parts fell into drip pan I'm not sure where these go they are the ones above the solenoids I wonder if your site has any info or picture. Thanks Al

The factory manual does a decent job about what stuff goes there. I'll see what I can dig up, and possibly scan for you.

Josh I put it all together put in three quarts atf it started to overflow the fill pipe.I removed the drain plug and it was bone dry. I called my local trans shop he said it seems like a blocked vent. I blew the vent with low pressure and it just came out the fill pipe. I'm thinking I got some of the valve body bolts in the wrong hole I did end up with an extra bolt. Is ther any venting above the valve body? I goofed when I removed too many bolts that didn't need to be removed. Without a good picture of the valve body with all the bolts in and the length of each one. I don't know if that is available. HELP Thanks Al

Al,
I forgot about this, I'm sorry.
Shoot me an email or pm so I don't forget again. I need to swap my seats around when I get home, but hopefully I'll have some time after dinner to scan some stuff.
