Im getting ready to swap out my broke down auto trans for a 5spd mt. I have a couple of questions. 1. The two wires that are coming out of the trans and go into the square plug , is one for the back up lights activation and one for the nuetral saftey switch?. 2. Does the gear ratio in the front diff and rear diff need to be the same ratio?. MY car is a 1990 legacy 2.2 non turbo, and the donor parts are from a 1991 legacy2.2 non turbo . Thanks for all your help in advance.

Have you read my write-up?

I got into detail on the wiring.

You need to take care of the back up lights, neutral switch, and the starter interlock circuit.

The 90 & 91 non turbo transmissions have the same final drive ratio, and yes the front & rear drive ratios need to be the same.
