Squishy Brake Pedal?

This is what is bothering me, when i hit the brake pedal its like squishing a marshmello, and u really got to press far deep in to get the car to stop quickly, the rear pads are new, the front ones dont squik,, the brake fluid is full, but its the original brake fluid from 290,000KM ago when the car was brand new!
Now im planning on changing my front rotors, and pads, and flushing out the old brake fluid, my dad knows the proccedure in all, but do u think its more likely the brake fluid becoming more compressable, because im sure moisture builds up over time, or the brake lines themselves, and how can i be sure? Thanks guys.

You wrote the key words--- original brake fluid.

Yes, old brake fluid is bad. Moisture... air... Please replace it!

OK, so that should be a simple fix, now whats better DOT 3 or 4 fluid? on the lid of the master cylinder it says DOT 3 or 4.

SS Lines will also take care of this problem.
Please search in the future, this topic has been asked about more times than I wish to count.

if the cap says DOT 3 or DOT 4, use DOT 3 or DOT 4 depending on which it says.
if it says both, you can use either, but I would use DOT 4.
these things are not there to confuse you deliberately.

OK, lol sorry, but on the label it says to use Dot 3 or 4 and i wasnt sure what the difference was, if i used 4 is it better in some way then 3? like is it less viscous, or less compressable? So the pedal feels more firm? thanks.

The pedal will feel more firm with SS brake lines. Changing brake fluid is only half the battle.

ok FINE ill do it your way lol, i asked my dad he suggests changing the brake lines while were at it right? so how much will they run me? and ill use DOT 3 oil. I guess the oriningals get contaminated over time right and softer. Is there any problems ill run into when changing the lines, i know on with legacy777 he has some problems removing them because the ends were rusted and he removed them with pliers, but any other issues, or things i need to replace?

DOT 4 fluid has a higher boiling point then DOT 3 fluid, however DOT 4 fluid has a higher affinity to absorb water.
It really doesn't matter what you use, DOT 3 or DOT 4.
Also, DOT 5.1, DOT 4, & DOT 3 are all compatible on a system that requires DOT 3.
DOT 5 is NOT compatible, is silicone based, and should not be used in street driven cars.
SS lines should run you about $100 or so. At least thats what I think I paid.

Different companies make braided stainless lines. Goodridge just happens to be one of the big ones.
I got my TWR stainless lines for about $75, and they came with all new banjo bolts and stuff.
I would recommend against the cheap no-name eBay lines, as I had a set that began to separate.
