Hey all, i just joined. CUrrently have a '93 leg wagon (beater) for the winter. I just found a '92 sedan with the turbo motor with an auto tranny. They want $600 for it. I think that i have a buyer for my wagon already but i was wondering if anyone could quickly shoot me some advice about this car???

Details:

Turbo car starts and runs. Shifts into drive and revers and moves.. still have not actually driven it. Motor has comon leaky valve covers onto exhaust thing (i think thats what it is)... reading no oil on dipstick and has some top end clatter... hoping that i can put oil in it and nose will go away. Its got around 140k on it and is in pretty decient shape for a new england car. Is it worth picking up? I need to pretty much jump in and start driving it!!!! I dont have time to screw with alot of stuff now. Common problems with these cars? What should i check for? Keep in mind, subies are pretty forign to me. :)

How hard would a 5spd swap be on this car? I dont know how long i could handle driving an auto :)

Allright, help me out guys!! :) THanks!

hey, another convert from the woes of mk1's. :P
I keed I keed, love rabbits/roccos.

read legacy777's(josh) writeup that is a sticky, its the best writeup of any kind that Ive ever seen, helped me a lot.
find a parts car and grab all the stuff.
IIRC it took me around a week of 5 hour days to do but it was by myself working outside in 20* and 30mph winds.
best mod i ever did to the car...

definatly not a convert... ;) Il never not have vw's... subies are just awsome ine the snow!

well, i was too late.. there was a miscommunication and the people that work at the junkyard ripped it apart on monday when they were supposed to be closed... i went in today and it was out in the yard sitting on its belly.. punched a hole in the oil pan, gas tank, cut the rad hoses, bent the rad support and took the rad, cut the cat off and stole the wheels... what a shame :(
