For the front, you need The rotors, calipers and pads. Also include wheels that clear.

For the rear you need the hubs. I believe for the hubs you need the axles and, in turn, for the axles you need the R180 diff.

like he said ^^ I'd double check on the rear though, I dont remember ever hearing you needing the hubs as well but you might.

You'll also need 17" or bigger rims.

the problem with the rear is the backing plate, which is pressed into the spindle. The caliper mounts to it. Regular calipers, Subaru 2-pots, and the brembos all have different mounting. If you had new backing plates pressed in, or switched spindles, the calipers would work. There is no adapter available for brembos (Kartboy makes some for Subaru 2-pots). The other problem is the rotors, since the R180 cars have a 190mm parking brake.

The only way to do rear brembos is to swap the whole rear end, or go with custom axles and swap the spindles.

Fronts calipers bolt right up although you can only use 04 rotors.

If you need to go bigger, front brakes are really all that need to be improved since they do most of the work, as long as you maintain the right bias. For an SS, the Subaru 4-pots are a fantastic upgrade, giving you bigger rotors, a fixed 4-piston caliper, and not altering the brake bias.

4-pots, along with a set of good pads, are enough for pretty serious tracking. Gary Sheehan raced with stock WRX brakes and race pads and had no fade problems, but torched his piston boots and wheel bearings.

One of these days I'll finish the brake compendium I'm working on.

cool thank you guys very much for the information.

i brought this up because ive been seeing used STI brembo's goin for pretty cheap so i think when i get some money im going to do this.

what im thinking for rims and tires are. 17's with 225/40 in the front and 235/40 or 245/40 in the back.

i want to get as wide a tire as i can on 17's.

wheel and tire guru's.. teach me!

Thanks, Andrew
