Air intake mod stalling issue

ok i got a 90' legacy GT wagon factory standard at the mo. now the other weekend i did the following mod:

1/ removed factory air filter box.
2/ bolted on a SIMOTA pod with carbon heat shield and subaru pod adapter to the air flow meter.
3/ disconnected oil blowback pipe that's attached to the resonator box running from the engine and fitted a mini pod filter to it.
4/ replaced the resonator box with a straight pipe.
5/ Turned engine on and it would run for 5seconds before the revs drop and engine stalls.

when i returned everything to factory spec, the way it was initially, it'd run fine again. anyone have any idea?

I would probably venture to say it's related to the pod filter. However, the blow by should really try and be dumped back into the intake.

Can you try just the pod filter, or just the resonator box delete?

That should narrow it down to which one is causing it.

Either way, I'd probably leave everything alone.....I went down this road about 10 years ago and all I got out of it was a busted MAF sensor, loss of low end torque, lots of frustration trying to diagnose my car stalling, and a chipped rim...

My guess is probably the blowback pipe change to a filter.
Also check the New pod connections to make sure everything is tight.

yes, the PCV to manifold tube (with PCV valve) pulls metered air; by not connecting it, you're pulling unmetered air into the intake, the engine is leaning out and voila, stall.

i see, so does it matter or not whether that PVC tube is connected at the resonator box or whether it's connected to one of the holes that's on the 90 degree bend just before the turbo's air intake? as it is still after the air flow meter. cheers.

ok so i deleted the resonator box, replaced with a straight tube and created a T junction to run the PVC tube and now it's all going fine. it's def sucking more cold air in.:D
