Hi all

Ive got a 94 legacy turbo, just fitted a new waterpump and all has gone well.. except in my haste i never marked the timing belt,

now the marks for the crank and passenger side are visable ( bear in mind im in UK so rhd) but does anyone know how many notches from the pulley marks the other marks are?
or is it worth biting the bullet and replacing the belt (only did it 4k miles ago)

I know its a long shot :?

many thanks

Is yours SOHC or DOHC? I would assume DOHC.

Where did you get the new belt? I've only done SOHC belts, but every one I've ever done, be them OEM or aftermarket belts, the belt was always marked in conjunction with the marks on the sprockets.

I've never had a cam gear move when removing a belt. it is a good practice to line things up before removing the belt however.

I lined everything up, but the cams did move ( the ones on the left, looking at the front of the car back) moved particularly easily, but after re aligning the marks and putting on the belt (correctly) my baby once again runs sweet..

many thanks

Its easy for the cam to move if its in the right position. My first timing job I took the belt off before turning the engine to TDC (grrrr) and apparantly I was just past the top of a lobe. It snapped really quick from the spring force and rotated about 90 degrees. I made her all better tho.
