I'm planning on swapping in an EJ22T into my 1990 legacy wagon. I've looked around and found some write ups for different cars and models, but not for what I'm doing. I've seen plenty of early 90's legacies with EJ22T engines in them. SO wheres the write ups. Pictures would help too. Also any suggestionson on where to order an EJ22T?
Thanks

Just so you know, it'd probably be far cheaper to find a 92 Touring Wagon and do a 5 speed swap than put an EJ22T into a 90

Well I allready got my wagon. Plus those turbo wagons are hard to find. and pricey. My legacy wagon was only $1000.

Here's the abbreviated version:
Parts you need in addition to current car:
turbo cross member, complete
Ej22T with intake and plumbing, Ej22T ECU, exhaust and boost control solenoid/pressure sensor assembly.
What you need to do:
Switch location of cam and crank sensor wires at the ECU. Add wiring for the boost assembly. Switch cross member. Install engine and exhaust. Plug in ECU. Drive away.
It's really about that simple. Try in the Electronics forum. I think that's where Legacy777 puts his really detailed swap write ups...

Unless he's got a 5spd wagon, then if he doesnt want to shred his gears he's going to have to put in a hydrolic clutch assembly, switch the tranny and switch the rear diff

Bah! There's plenty of people, myself included who have put EJ20G's into NA Leggies without changing the tranny. If it can handle the Ej20G, it can take an Ej22t...

Yes the turbo Legacy 5spd tranny is slightly stronger, but not enough to make it a no-brainer choice over any other Subaru 5spd tranny.
They're basically all the same people. Abuse them, and they will break.

What wires go where though? I thought I had it figured out, but I'm having troubles now. My codes won't clear, but I'm sure it's my atmo pressure sensor. I don't know if it's my wiring or not, but it cuts fuel at the slightest touch of the throttle.

I don't have a detailed write-up done.
This thread pretty much covers everything though.

Read over that, and if you still have specific quesitons, please ask.

what matt said and plus one for the tranny. I drive the piss out of my car at every light, every stop we are always go go go!!
the na tranny hasn't given up on me yet, and it doesn't show any signs of trouble. although it could use a fluid change. . .

A-Hah! I used that thread for info this last week, but I somehow got my "power supply" and "signal" mixed up on my MAP! I'll switch those around tommorrow and hopefully write up a detailed wiring plan here, assumming that's all I have left to complete.

ask douglas vincent if the na trannies will hold up.

NA trannies definitley hold up. Even my old FWD turbo swap held up. Minus the massive tire hop I was able to achieve with the new GR-2's and the coil package. And the constant spin while boosting around corners. Everyone in my town knows Subarus have ass now though.....hehehehe.
I like my AWD 4.11 final much better for the back roads racing though. She hasn't done me wrong. When she does...DOG BOX!
