Hi to all of you on the forum. I am new to the subaru family and I've got a 91 legacy wagon n/a with a a/t. When I got it, the trany was shot so i got one from a salvge yard for $700. I had it put in and drove it around for about a month when one day I was going down the interstate at 75 it decided to down shifted 2 gears. Needless to say this one is toast. Good thing it's under waranty but the shop says i have to pay for the labor again. I know there is an update for it if anybody can help in locating it, it would be most helpful.

I don't know of an "update" per say, however there is a shift kit that Transgo offers that can be installed with a tranny rebuild. I'd suggest talking with the transmission shop about this. Even if you have to pay for it, it's probably worth it. I think it was around 60 bucks or so.

Well I got the car back but now it has the dreded torque bind and the trans has codes, 24 and 33. Speedo still works, no other problem's. I have seen in other posts where vss1 is but I don't know where vss2 is. I am sick and tired of this P.O.S but I don't have any other vehicle, and my budget is taped. The shop took a month to swap the trans and charged me $265.00 and when he first did it he charged me $1086.00. The trans has no more waranty. They base it of the first trans. WHAT can I do?????

I would contact the BBB, or try some tactics like that with the shop.....they obviously didn't do what they were supposed to do.

To answer one of your questions, the VSS2 is in the speedometer.
