hello everyone.

well i blew a piston in my ej22t dohc motor and its time to rebuild it (+350whp lasted just over 500,000kms of abuse not bad at all i think), this time forged pistons from wiseco are going in.

what i want to no is there any high flow oil pumps and water pumps out there i can bye? or are the stock ej22t ones good.

500,000kms? that's 310 THOUSAND MILES bud, are you sure? most 18 wheelers don't drive that much in half a decade!

Im looking at getting a 12mm JDM AVCS oil pump... supposedly to flow higher volume at the same pressure as the EJ22T (a 10mm pump)

scuzzy thats right 500,000kms, when i put the heads on the used block it had just over 350,000kms. i dont no about you but i had spun my orginal 91 legacy turbo (owned it 15years now) block over 999,999kms and thats the block im boreing over for the forged pistons and it still looks like its brand new. i got 5 ej22t blocks sitting in my arsenal all them have +300,000kms.

splinter whats up my west coast cuzin lol, anyways so this jdm oil pump is better for sure you got part numbers so i can order one or just use the factory one ej22t, im rebuilding it so is it worth it or not? what you think? i am just trying to get everything before i stick it all together soon.

splinter i will show you pics of whats i got up my sleeve this time CRAZY ness is going to be unleased. and i better have a cover story in subie mag or im going to challeng everyone to anything match LOL

Uhhh, I wouldnt be so sure about that claim... Ive done a fuck of a lot to my car, and so have lots of other people on the forums. I dont doubt your power numbers, but I dont think youve 'done the most'

Anyway, like I said, the 12mm JDM one is sweet

If you guys can't stopping bickering like school children and answer the question at hand, I am going to lock this thread!

I would personally just get another Ej22T oil pump and water pump. Those parts have consistantly seen 350+whp on a number of different builds in the last couple of years. I don't buy into all the hype around the new improved AVCS 12mm pump. The 10mm pump has served as a workhorse for many years and if you just buy a new one, you will be fine...

And a relevant thread on the subject:

The reason I want to go to the JDM pump is that Im going to be running very high RPM (7500+8000) and I want the increased volume...

You really think its unnecessary?

Also, my roommate, RS25, set about with a caliper and measured EVERYTHING (including shims) on the EJ22T oil pump and the EJ207 (I think thats the engine code at least, 02 WRX) oil pump, and everything was the same.

Why do we think the EJ22T flows more?

i red lined every day in my car, 7500rpms it cuts, its so impossible not to hit it with my set up. its like 1000rpm 2000rpm BANG 7500rpm switch, an all 6 gears get hit like that.

i dont no but i am going to rip apart a pump my self to see these shims i got shit loads all over the place, ej20k one and n/a ones and ej22t ones.

also another note 1991 turbo legacy my vin modle had the only oil pump with a totaly own part number for that ej22t motor with my vin year modle 5mt. and if its on back order from japan i no its going to be a special pump, everything i get for my motor is all ways on back order the only modle year vin for some reason its fucked.

I don't. I should have 'dated' Xephyr's remarks of when he made them when I quoted him in that thread I linked. That was written in 2003 before we had any sort of domestic access to v7 or v8 STi parts. In fact, I don't think Mark even got his hands on something like a v5 or v6 pump to measure. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were also the same pump. He did later (in 2005 when he switched from the Ej22T to the Ej257 bottom end) tell me that the Ej257 STi oil pump was no different than the Ej22T pumps he had used previously. I merely suggested the Ej22T pump because many dealerships tack a premium on the Ej257 STi pump because it is "STi" It's a load of BS, but there's a reason they are affecitonately called stealerships.

As for the revving? Mark has ALWAYS run 7500-8000 rpm redlines. And he doesn't baby his cars. Even when I ride around town with him, he's shifting way up there. It's just how he drives. He puts 25,000-30,000 mi a year on his car, and is active in SCCA solo racing where a couple weekends a month during the summer his car is on the track seeing severe duty. And then he drives it home afterwards. That's enough of a testimonial for me to trust the parts. Make your own decisions accordingly...

Bumping an old thread...

I just discovered that the EJ22T oil pump part #, 15010AA103, in fact supercedes to the EJ205/255/257 oil pump part #, 15010AA300.

So they're not just similar, they're essentially exactly the same.

So yeah, a dealer has absolutely no excuse to charge a premium for an STi oil pump, since it's no different from an EJ22T oil pump.
