When you do a FMIC setup on a stock turbo setup (non rotated) is there a major difference in lag? Do the size of the intercooler pipes have an affect on this? I love the look and function of the FMIC, but I don't want to have to wait all day for my turbo to spool.

In theory it could affect spool time if not designed/setup properly, however I have no real world experience to deny or confirm any claims.
There are a few guys running FMIC's, so hopefully they can chime in.

The FMIC on my SS-Auto with VF11, spools almost as quick as stock.
I was so happy with the response that I'm about to take off the top-mount off of my '99 Impreza & put the same FMIC kit on it too. I'm just waiting for some warmer days to start my projects.
1. EJ20G in LSS
2. FMIC in Impreza
I PM'ed you, re. intake pipe Devan.

unfortunately when I went FMIC I also went vf39 so I can't say anything about vf11 spool. If I was going to do a FMIC on the little vf11 then I would use smaller piping than I used(2.5'') maybe 2'' to keep the volume of the system lower.

No decrease in spool time. Even with the GT30R the current owner has on the car, full boost (over 20psi) comes on below 4,000 RPM.

BXSS's FMIC looks really clean. It fits nicely behind the bumper. He notched the backside of the bumper beam to make it fit. He also had to pull the fog lights. I'm going to have his guy help put one in my car later this spring. They're pretty cheap from a company out in california. you've got to do some custom work to make em fit though.
