+1 for the sleeper look

I got off easy tonight. On my way home from work just about midnight I pulled a big feint drift through the roomy intersection onto my street. I know its risky to drive like that in the city but it has been snowing for 3 days and I couldn't resist. There was no traffic from any of the three oncoming directions but the ONE car that was 50 yards behind me was a ghost SUV. I can usually spot a ghost car immediately but not this one, not tonight.
It was a short conversation. I had my ID and papers ready for him. He mentioned that the fine for having the wrong address (I moved last year) on my license was $120 and the fine for "going too fast when the conditions suck" is $402. I agreed I was going "too fast" and he told me to carry on and shape up.
I realised right away that he figured I lost control and I didn't feel like arguing with him. My pride isn't worth $500 right now. But not until I was talking to my room-mate did I realise that the super low profile Legacy is what got me off the hook. If I had done that in an STi he would have thrown a stunting ticket my way I am sure. Luckily my big blue mudflaps were still filthy from auto-cross so they kinda blend in to the winestone paint at night. Even though I have CES exhaust, the muffler is really plain looking, and the low rumbly idle might sound like an "old car" to someone who doesn't know.
Anyway, I was unlucky that he saw me but super lucky that he was feeling leniant. I think the appearance of my car made the difference though. I know better than to do that with cars around but it's nice to be reminded verbally and not financially.
