I read on here that the possible fix for my "Torque Bind" Issue is the replacement of the Duty C Solenoid. Is this a job that i can only have done at the dealer or can my local transmission shop handle it? And if i can only get it done at the dealer what kind of price am i looking at?

I also read an old bulletin about this Limited slip fluid for the tranny that is a quick fix. Any opinions of that. Here is the link for it...

I have not yet changed the tranny fuid and am now slightly afraid cause i read a few articles of it being said that changing tranny fluid that has not been done in a long time can kill the tranny. I was under the impression that only happened if it was flushed. Can any techs shed some light on this. And on top of that, can i get some advice on a good fluid to add to a 92 Legacy with 168K?

I went through a tranny shop, WORST IDEA EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They originally quoted $1500 then when i come out $3000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because of all the labour!!!!!!!!!! subaru would have charged $1700 and the ENTIRE rear casing would have been replaced with the updated design, and all the internal components would have been replaced, and it is guaranteed. And i have MUCH MUCH more trust for my dealer, then some private tranny shop. AND today the car isn't AWD AGAIN. And the tranny shop is clueless, and they charge me $120 every time i go there, TO get a tranny flush, which they are DEFINITLY NOT DOING.

So, my suggestion to you, GO TO YOUR DEALER !!

I pulled a solenoid out of a rear end wrecked autoawd and bought it and the pull out clutch pack, a drivers side window switch and the TCM or control mod for the tranny for $40 dollars and put it all, the TCM didn't work but everything else did, best 40 dollars spent just about ever, no more binding. My old one was BAD.
