i am going to be making an entire exhaust out of scratch for my car soon and need to get an o2 sensor for it. I cant find wether or not other subaru o2sensors are compatible. What is the best one for a 3" setup and what should i expect to spend?

It doesn't matter what size your exhaust is, you can use the factory sensor...and just weld a bung in the stock location

i already knew that, my question was what o2 sensors work for a turbo legacy. Do i need a specific one or is there flexibility like everything else subaru?

There are a lot of sensors that are compatable with out cars... pretty much just have to keep in mind the thread count IIRC ours is a M18x1.5 thread (you better check it), the length of the O2 sensor, and weather it has a flange/washer on it. Search around on here a bit but I think you can even make a four wire work as a three wire by grounding one of the wires. But I'm fairly sure you can find a lot O2 sensors in a junkyard for a few bucks.

The easiest and most straight forward thing to do would be to go buy the O2 sensor for the EJ22 NA. Its the same sensor with long wires. You could also spend less money on a new universal fit O2 sensor for either the EJ22t or NA. You could make the wires whatever length then.

You could try asking Blackbart (Frank) if he has a good used O2 sensor. He was nice enough to include one with the downpipe I bought from him.

Here I am stating the obvious...

When you weld the bung on you have to make sure the sensor is deep enough into the exhaust flow. So you probably want to pick an O2 sensor before you start fabbing.

You probably already knew all this anyway.

Thanks! this is exactly what i needed to know, i am going to be fabbing a 3" exhaust by taking a flat piece of sheetmetal and putting it through the rolling machine and then cuting and welding it to be the correct shape. The o2 sensor bung it the least of my worries rite now

That sounds like a major pain in the ass. Just buy 3" pipe and some mandrel bends, and cut and weld it all together.

im sure this is gonna be a PITA but the guy making it for me is a tin knocker and has all the equipment at his work for fabbing up this thing, and he enjoys a good challenge
