I must say, it is not as thrilling as my 96 blazer in the snow. The leggy is a LOT more stable than the blazer, but it doesnt feel as connected... Im going to wait until next year when my new motor is in the car to pass judgement - 1rst gear isnt tall enough and 2nd is too tall to really play.... with the new motor and a 3.90 trans/rear I should be able to play a little more.

For a crappy handler, the blazer transmitted a LOT more road feel through the wheel. In the wet, it would swing the rear sometimes, but it was SUPER controllable and would let you hold the oversteer as if you were some sort of amazing rally driver.

That blazer had terrible handling in the dry, but when it snowed, I could make that thing go down a mile long street with the nose pointed towards the sidewalk.... I knew that truck better than any car Ive ever owned. I always wished I could get the miata to do that :-D

I'm guessing the tires on your blazer were a bit more aggressive and could bite through the snow better. Pair that with AWD (not 4wd) and of course the subaru is gonna be ALOT more forgiving in the slippery stuff.

The blazer was on regular all seasons...

I had no traction issues with the subaru - it just isnt as "fun"

yeah my AWD doesn't work so snow is no fun when you cant get out of the driveway
we always have to use the Explorer, we thought about selling it but then we'd have nothing to get through snow in, its pretty fun and near impossible to get stuck, we are thinking about taking the insurance off and turning it into a beater toy sorta thing, not fix it up, just run it hard till it dies

Mine is really tail happy. The rear slides really easy.
But i know I have crappy tires.

My Legacy with bald Michelins stuck to black ice pretty well, there's a reason they race these things on ice.

That, my friends, is #200!!!!

yeah i got different tires on the front and the back :P (it came that way when i bought it). That + the 19mm rsb makes my car like to oversteer a lot, but in a controlable and really fun manner :)
