Hey just after some info on my engine eg what it may or may not handle. Firstly i must point out i live in New Zealand and my car has been imported from Japan a few years ago. It is a 1991 Legacy VZ Type R BC5 model with an ej20D engine and a 5speed manual tranny. Anyone shed some light on this?

Your engine is an EJ20G...
It's 2 liter, makes approximately 220bhp...
Since it is a Type-R, it most likely has a VF12 turbo, and may have forged pistons...I am unsure of that...

An EJ20D is not an EJ20G. A VZ is a normally aspirated car. The V means top of the line for NA's, and the Z means 2.0L. Your engine is a 2.0L DOHC NA, which I believe makes something like 150hp/130lb/ft (torue might be off a little). The intake manifold is variable length which is why the hp/torque is so good. The type-R adds at the very least suspension from the RS, and interior from the GT. Depending on the year you may have an RS/GT bumper with fogs, but if it's a 91 I don't think so.

Well, in that case it is an EJ20R

No, an EJ20D is not an EJ20R either. An EJ20D is an EJ20D. R's weren't invented when the car was made, hell H's weren't even being produced yet.

Maybe you could have consulted the currently active thread on that engine and subject?
And this should help even though it contains a couple of errors...

That's actually not where I got the info, as this thread was before that one. Google anything for long enough and you learn too much about it, ran into a site with hella info on the different trims like a year or two ago when blah blah blah, it's not interesting. I dont remember the site anymore though.
