So I got the old ones out, and I've put my WRX rear end in, and I'm trying to install the WRX axles. I can't get them in right. Do I need to take off the entire hub and then slide the axle into it? I've disconnected the strut and trailing arm, and I've got the hub pulled pretty far out, but I can't get the axle in.

I know it may be a little different since I'm dealing with wrx male stub axles, but this shouldn't be that hard. I put the stub in the diff first, and then try and fit the other end into the hub. I've got a Haynes and it just basically says "put it in". I'm searching on NASIOC too, but does someone have an idea? It'd be great if they were like 4 inches shorter!

Oh, and does anyone know if my rear axles should have circlips on them? When I bought them, there were none.

I had get the knuckle loose from the car. Either by getting the lateral links loose from the knuckle by trying to take out that big burly bolt thats always a pain, or disconnecting the lateral links from the subframe, which can change your rear toe. That big bolt is $27 dealer retail.

I finally managed to get it, I just took the entire hub off. I broke the big long bolt free on both sides (nothing like getting lucky twice). I did manage to rip out a ABS speed sensor in the process, but I got them. I think my axles are on the right sides too.

Im trying to get my lsd in right now and cant get the old pins out... they are STUCK... I had one break on its way out...


Good excuse to buy new punches Too bad Im poor

I got my punches at Harbor Freight. 14 pc. set for 8 bucks. I use it so much. The one punch for axle pin removal has done about 7 axles. Definately a worthwhile purchase. Before I drove the old pins out, I used a wire brush wheel to clean out all the crap from around the hole.

I just bought the punches from home depot. I was there on my off day picking up my toolbox anyway....
