AVC-R installed

I had the guys at Modern Garage install an Apexi AVC-R this evening
and i must say, i'm impressed.

The performance is what i expected. The boost is much more linear
and not as peaky as it was before. The display is very nice and let
me have 1-4 readouts simultaneously from 6 inputs.

It's a great tool and much more accurate than the VDO boost gauge and
HBC.

If anyone would like to purchase my HBC or VDO gauge for a reasonable
price, please let me know.

VDO gauge ?

Does it work in psi ? do you have a pic ? what is the needle travel from 0-15 psi like in mm.

The reason is I brought a gauge and mine sucks, needle moves about 5 mm between no boost and full boost, it is measured in bar which means nothing to me.

oh yeah, are you in the UK :)

cheers

John

It's a VDO 0-30 boost gauge and it works very well.

You can find pictures here:
http://www.xmission.com/~dac/centric/boost.htm

I'm in Utah, USA, so shipping it to the UK wouldn't be very cheap.
It's mounted in an Autometer gauge pod, black, and works really well.

A safe maximum boost on a "stockish" EJ20 is about 12-15lb psi, so a gauge with about 1.5 to 2 bar of full scale deflection is sufficient.

It is less important whether the graduations are in psi or bar, and moreso that your boost span achieves reasonable full scale defection.

You should be getting about 1 bar peak boost... no?

Sorry,... let' see if I can simplify... hmm... educate... whatever!

(In bars. 1.0 kg/cm2 = 14.22 psi)

You should have about 0.8 to 1 bar boost which equals about 12-15 lb psi on your EJ20. Select a gauge where this is about the full extent of the needle travel.

Oh... and you need a about 0.8 to 1 bar vacuum if you want a combination vacuum / boost gauge.

Someting like this....
