my rear speakers sometimes go dead, they come back after hitting a bump.
I pulled them and looked at their connection and they look good to me.
who thinks it's the head unit?
Speakers?
Wiring?
it is both rear speakers and they do it independently of one another.
it is the factory 80 watt H/U with cassette that I am dealing with.

if the speakers are after market then my guess is the magnet on the back of the speaker is touching metal which causes it to go dead(I know this from an install on my buddies car), then when u hit a bump it jar's it off the metal which allows it to work again, even if there stock this could be happening, its the first thing I'd check if that was happing to me.

it's 100% stock right now.
I'll check into that, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't touching when I pulled it out before

I'm so close to slapping in a new H/U speakers and wiring. But I've got no money to do so right now

maybe the guys down the block will have some takeouts for me

Have you checked for continuity in the wiring on that speaker. One way is to remove the headunit, and use an ohm-meter to measure resistance on the two terminals that run back to that speaker. You could measure the working one as a control pretty easily.

if I had a problem with continuity wouldn't it always be a problem?
or are you saying I should check when the speaker isn't working?

If that's possible.
I can't think of a faster way to check.
