I fire up the 92 Turbo ss and it was a bit chilly out. The rpms go up than drop to below 500 she starts to chug almost stalling. The engine sounded like it was beating itself to death. It didnt stall but it was close. I know the knock sensor and water temp sensor are bad, there getting replaced this weekend. Any other ideas on what caused this? Throttle postion sensor? Dirty Maf?

Replace the coolant temp sensor and see if things get better.....if it were cooler today, it's possible that the sensor was giving some bad readings to the ECU to calculate the correct AFR.

I had a stalling engine on a 1992 legacy turbo AT when I stopped at corners it would sometimes just have a rpm drop and stop... turns out it was a dirty throttle body.... now it runs great .... maybe its not the source of your problem, but a clean throttle body can maybe help your idle problem

don't clean your throttle body
