Any one tried R1 Concept rotors?

I found this site that offers drilled/slotted WRX rotors for around $150 for all four rotors. Pretty dang cheap compared to anything else I've found.

Does anyone know anything about this company or these rotors? Its tempting at that price.

On a side note. What rotors would you reccomend? I just picked up a set of WRX front and rear calipers. Need some good advice on the rotors before I do the install.

Thanks.

I will not ever use a drilled rotor (again). Especially not one from some generic e-bay like company.

If they make blanks or just slotted rotors go for it.

Your wagon rear brakes are the same size as wrx rear brakes. However the WRX stuff will give you more pad choices, fresh seals, and the ability to easily upgrade to "H6" stuff.

Check my notes on bias change with different cars and different brake combinations in like the 3rd post of the brake thread.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't want drilled rotors anyway. I read through the break threads. Still not sure what manufacturer to get the rotors from. Unless I go OE.

On a side note. I have 16" Legacy GT wheels. From a 98 or 99 MY. Will I have any problems with fitment? Jamal, I noticed you were pretty tight with those new brakes and the WRX wheels.

Pretty sure they'll clear although I can't say for certain.

Autozone blanks can be had for cheap and the nasioc folks seem to like them. Otherwise you could get Brembo or DBA blanks if you want to spend more. Check the vendor classifieds on nasioc. WRXbrakes and importrp are both good vendors with good prices.

I bought Brembo drilled and blanks from Tirerack to experiment with.

I have a friend who bought the R1 Concept rotors for his Fiero. I guess they have a CNC machine and he just takes like autozone rotors and drills them. Sometimes they get listed as brembo rotors online since he can drill brembo OE rotors.

It was cheaper to get drilled AND slotted with them vs. just slotted or drilled. Reason being the guy has to switch settings on his CNC machine. I'd advise against getting both done because of rotor weakness, but to each their own.

I've always ended up cooking my rotors so I'm going to give Brembos a shot. I've read bad stuff about the drilled that I bought, but I want to give them a try. If these warp, it's brembo slotted and cryotreated or bust.
