Engine stalls when getting to a stop not giving gas (AT)

Ok here is the problem, the other day, I was driving normally down a hill to get to the stop down that same hill, suddenly, I realize I have no power steering, and the engine is shut down..... I put the car in park (after stopping obviously) and start the car back again and continue my road, since then, it done it 4 times, all in the same condition : gliding (not giving gas) towards a stop....
the guy at the garage told me: It should be the throttle body. He cleaned it up and it still does it....
What can it be?
I know my front crankshaft seal is leaking but I don't think it's the cause of that problem....

How is your idle?

Well It settles at about 600 but when I decelerate (giving zero throttle) it drops to 600-500 and once in a while it goes even lower and then tries to stall .... I think most of the times it happened I was braking ....

Vacuum leak at the bpv? I have read that people have had issues with stalling during no throttle situations while atmospherically venting their bpv.

How do I (myself not mechanic) can check that out ?

look for hoses that are broken or cut open. The bpv is under the plastic pipe that goes from the turbo to the throttle body.

make sure all those hoses are hooked up and not cracked or otherwise damaged in a way that would result in air leaking out of them (ie: cracked or split). I am not 100% sure on this but i believe you should be able to hear the leak if you had your head in your engine bay while you rev the engine.

Does your stalling only happen when your rpms are low or near idle? Or does it happen at cruising too?
Does the car seem to spudder first before it stalls, or does it just all of a sudden lose power?

It only happens when I am near idle at low speed and it stalls like a MT would (I hear it trying to continue running, then just stop)

I hear an ''wind'' sound from the engine over 2700 rpm ... could that be the air ''leak''

I found a cracked hose, I have pictures of it, How do I post it ?

host it with imageshack or photobucket then use the post a rply button and under the subject line is a row of buttons, use the second from the right that says Img. Press it once, post the address that the picture hosting website gives you then press it again. Then submit it.

Mine do this i found that the speedcable was the cause(if it does work) 33$ later.... good to go!!

Oh ,my speed cable is on it's way here .. didn't think it could be the cause of a stalling engine
Just got the car and the cable was broken, ordered it and while waiting for it, this problem occurred ... anyhow I'll still take a look at my hoses, but might just be the broken speed cable.

yeah, it's probably the speedo cable.....the car does a lot of weird things without the speedo cable.

hopefully that solves it.

my car does the same thing, it idles like a tractor and bogs a little when you take off, but does fine after you get going
i was coasting about 20mph around a corner once, when i noticed i could barely turn the wheel, then i notice the engine wasnt running and i almost went over a tree cause i couldnt turn the wheel fast enough
but if it were the speedo cable on my car, wouldnt the speedo not be working? i was thinking maybe the tps or something

why would the speedo cable be a factor in engine performance? Mine bounces like crazy now that the lube I poured in is wearing off.

well i dont know what it does for the engine but on the transmission, with the 4EAT, the cluster panel partly controls the transmission
my car use to not shift above 2nd gear unless you did the manual shift selector, but the tach didnt work either, we replaced the cluster panel and it works fine now
