24-pin black connector

I tired searching to find the answer but came up empty.

Hanging down from the passenger side of the steering wheel is a 24-pin black connector. There are 18 male pins in it. I could not find the matching connector. Can someone tell me what it is for? Is it some kind of diagnostic connector?

Thanks! :D

:D I dunno, that's why I'm asking. :D But, very possibly it could be the OBD connector. (Although, I don't even know if our cars came with them . . . )

So, that is the OBD1 connector or Select Monitor connector?

They are one and the same.

Thanks!

Hmmm, I just remembered vrg3's scan tool thread and went to it and came back here. Isn't the Select Monitor connector the 9-pin bright orangy-yellow connector? So, are you saying, Dave, that the black 24-pin connector is the same in that it does the same thing as the yellow connector except plugs into a different piece of equipment?

Hmm....now I'm looking at the pics of the scan tool interface and I'm not sure.

Someone with an FSM should look...

Sorry I can't say for sure.
