Hello !!!! (i think i start every post like that, i feel rude otherwise)

So, i was sitting in my cubicle, rearranging my transformers to shoot anyone who enters, and i had an idea.... What if i just knocked out all the honeycomb inside my downpipe, and THAT way the rattle would go away AND i know the DP would fit!... because it fits right now!!! (wanted aftermarket, but am waiting for the right moment... or something)

So.. what do you think?????

Anyone done this???

Anyone have suggestions on how to do it? (besides wearing a mask)

too much work - just buy one...

the only reason the idea even came to me was because of a WRX guy telling my he de-catted his DP in about 30 minutes, it just fell apart inside....

i have one priced with a midpipe, and a catback, so if i really F it up.. i have a backup idea...

has anyone ACTUALLY done this???

just get a catless dp if you are going to run catless. Or get a hi flo cat and get the same performance with less smell

I kinda like the way catless exhaust smells.....

I kinda like the way catless exhaust sounds when you come off throttle after reving hard. The sound of the turbo spooling down is one of the sexiest things ever to me. Next only to the sound of a blocked wastegate

just to let people know, i found the rattle and it was NOT my downpipe.....

the rattle came from a broken top shield on the passenger side manifold head shield. hidden bolt had broken, and was just barely rattling...

wow, that only took a year to find....

so now i just WANT a downpipe.... dont need one like i thought....

so as for decatting it.... dont think it'll happen

I did this by cutting the tumor open and taking all the stuff out and then welding it back together. I put the heat sheild back on it and made sure it wasnt gonna rattle, then I pressure tested it with water. It never leaked, sounded SO badass! and smelled great. My td04 would hit 11 psi at 2400 rpm and hold it all the way till redline. that is untill I developed a #1 rod knock three days ago. Its totally worth it, and if you can knock it out without cutting it open, even better.

ive done it before on other cars, but not my leggy

i just took it off, stuck a dowl rod in and beat the crap outa the comb and it all fell out in like 5 minutes and i put it back on
