1992 White Legacy Wagon $3750 Why so much for an older wagon, read on!

I bought this station wagon with the express purpose of fixing it and selling. It is a very clean, well taken care vehicle. But it had a bad clutch. So I got it for a fair price.

Original intentions were to simply replace the timing belt and clutch. But the motor was shot…so…. I rebuilt a motor for it.

Here is the list of NEW parts on this clean wagon.

New piston rings installed
New/rebuilt cylinder heads
New head gaskets
New valve cover seals
New rear main seal
New front main seal
New cam shaft seals
New timing belt
New timing belt idlers
Rebuilt oil pump
New spark plugs
New spark plug wires
New thermostat

New throw out bearing
New clutch disk and pressure plate
New flywheel and bearing

New front and rear brakes

Replaced bad axle, so all axles are good.

Yeah I pretty much did everything. This wagon is nicer than all the other Subarus I personally own (4). I am a highly qualified hobby Subaru mechanic who has rebuilt many Subaru motors and vehicles over the years.

So, as it stands, I am asking $3750 for this wagon. For an additional $250, I will repaint the front and rear bumpers as they are the only real eyesore on the wagon as they have some scratches, no dents.

Also, if you want, I can replace all 4 struts with NEW struts for an additional cost ($150 plus cost of struts).

The rest of the good.
Blaupunkt CD player, decent speakers.
Great shape 14” tires, about 10k on them, on Factory Alloy rims.
155,000 miles on the blue body and interior.
CLEAN interior. I won’t let my kids in it, I promise!
Very clean white exterior. The body and trim will be detailed. If you buy it before I detail it, I will knock off $150.

OK, the bad…
No AC. The AC compressor was seized. But if you get a new compressor, I will install for free later on. But I can’t charge it, someone AC qualified would have to do that.
No cruise control. Only Legacy I have seen that doesn’t have it. Sorry.
Um.. That’s it for the bad.

it a nice car but you still can't expect to get more than Blue book for it.

Good luck with the sale.

I'm sure he could if he washed the car before taking the pic :|

Its got a whopping .2 miles on it from coming out of the garage. It's VERY dirty right now. I have a good 2 hours of detailing to get it nice, if not more time....

And its always good to start with a high price, its easy to come down, its hard to go up!

I am sure the price will come down some, but I want to start where I was setting my goal for. As I clean it up, all defects will start factoring in.

If it only had a turbo engine in it . . .

ITs the turbo and what not thats a little harder. But building a stock turbo engine is easy. As the ethnic seller says.... "How much you want to pay?"

Price is lower too.... I found a few problems, like it needs a new driver side visor and the cup holder is missing the lower cup holder thingy.

$3250

Doug, I know you are a good guy and you know subarus, but if you sell it at this price (no ac and more stuff bad), then you can sell ketchup popsicles.. enuf said.

ps. when i had to replace my ac compressor, it cost 25, plus about 200 labor and freon, and a bumper repaint is around 100 so, your price is very questionable to say the least, add to that new tires at about 50 x 4, you are out of my world on price and i am drunk
try about 2100 and you may get her sold. maybe not. that is still more than kbb. i am not dumb. bestest of luck my mate. even with an ej22t, no way @ this ridiculous price. I would ask 5000 for my ss in comparison, but instead i ask half

Might help if he put on the stock 15" alloys, and rinse out that corner light. Get that bumper touched up and for the ac, you can get some sealant stuff and recharge it yourself. You could also get the cruise control piece at a junkyard for not much. Isn't the wiring already there?

Seriously guys, if you don't want to buy Doug's car then don't. But there's no need to muddle up his For Sale thread complaining about his price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and let it be.

Decided to keep it and sell the wifes crappy 94 wagon. By crappy I mean I need to do EXACTLY what I just did to this wagon, so why do that? I can sell the crappy wagon for the same I paid for the white wagon, and so only be out parts money, so basically the NICE wagon will have only cost me $800 or so plus time.
