Can I run a turbo engine without a turbo and with a EJ22 ECU

Just wondering, because there is a junkyard with a lower mileage EJ22T than mine and I thought id pick it up and replace all the seals, water pump, and timing belt. Then use it in my non turbo car. But will my non turbo tranny be able to handle the extra power? If there is any extra power without running a turbo. Thanks.
Engine is $150 with 245k KM.

Buy it, sell it for more $, then with the extra $ just get a normal EJ22

thats a good idea. But I wanted to use it more or less for down the road when I get a turbo auto tranny. Then I can use a turbo safely. But um will it be any faster non turbo EJ22T?

a turbo engine without a turbo? dont know how much if any that should increase HP. after all the difference between the two wasnt that large to begin with (130hp vs 160hp)

it will be slower since it has a lower compression ratio, i'd think..it'd still probably run and work ok though. might want to get something to help with the tuning.

Oh ya forgot about the compression ratio. I just wanted more power. Like even though the car downshifts no problem, on the highway it could use more oomph. Will the EJ22T with the stock turbo work fine with a rebuilt non turbo auto? I could probably get the ECU as well. But will I need to rewire alot? Trying to make this a simple installation as it is a daily driver.

Turbo running N/A will take a hit with power (runs out of breath about 1k sooner) and gas mileage (I went from 25 to 23 mpg), but torque will be about the same unless you're comparing a new rebuilt EJ22T vs. an old beat EJ22.

How safe would it be running the turbo with low boost? Will it be noticeable the gains. Still needs to be reliable keep in mind.

Dont launch, shift smooth, and it'll be fine.

I thought I read that the N/A transmissions took a bit more beating because they were geared longer which put less strain on the transmission.

cam timing in the turbo motor is way different if I am not mistaken, you wont want to run an EJ22t without its turbo!

1. For those not paying attention, he appears to have an automatic transmission. There's no strength difference between the auto trannies in a turbo vs Na car.
2.Talk to Steve (Evolutionmovement). He ran an Ej22T in NA form for about a year in his car while he geared up for the converion. It ran and drove fine.
3. IF you want to run that junkyard engine with a turbo, you will need to also get the turbo crossmember when you make the purchase.
4. If the whole car it there, why not get the boost control wiring and ECU while you are at it and do the proper converion?

Hmm, ok fine, it is the whole car by the way. I was thinking about just buying the engine and selling the block. I'm moving so some extra $$ would be great lol.

Yeah,
At $150, I would have bought now and asked questions later. Recently a couple of members have shipped Ej22T's to Europe because they are willing to pay close to $1000 for just the shortblock...

Matt, is that plus shipping?
Cam timing between the two is pretty close. As I said many times, you lose power, but torque seems the same. I blew off Hondas without trying (as informed by an owner the next day who thought we were racing when I was just driving normal. Broke his heart when he learned I DEtuned the car) and that's with the 3.7 FD.

Yep,
To my understanding that's plus shipping...
