So i was talking with my dad (who i'm slowly converting to a subdude) and he asked how many people had converted their wagons over to a 5 speed like we had.....

i didnt have an answer for him....

We're not talking SS's either, just the wagons, so they ONLY came with the automatic.....

Lets Tallie it up! I'm curious myself, and i'll go first :)

I had one done on my wagon, which biggreen96 now owns. That's one.

lex aka alexis, who was the inspiration for my swap, has/had a 92/93 with a 5MT swap, so that's two.

These were done in 02 and 01 respectively.

worse, Kentucky, well not that bad really (updated my profile location)

the only Legacys i see here in Owensboro are 1st-2nd gens, and there all autos, even the 92' SS, not a Subie dealer with in a 3 hours drive to Lexington, there they are crawling out of the woodwork

I'm happily digging this up from the grave to add my name to the list.

I also love the hell out of my 5mt Touring Wagon.

This swap IS super easy and it breathed such life into the car.

Ok, that makes 11 so far.

I see 5 speed wagons all the time at the junk yard.

The point is that the Touring Wagon (turbocharged) was not available with manual transmission from the factory. You may be seeing 5MT wagons, but they are not stock turbo.

I can't say i have a touring wagon, BUT my car has went from FWD AT NA to AWD 5MT NA to TURBO AWD 5MT :\ & did it almost all by myself, had alot of words of wisdom from frantic four and my buddies Jake $ Kris and bought some parts from them as well.

^^^how did u go about mounting the carrier bearing for the driveline since there is no holes or threaded inserts on the 2wd cars?

The holes were there on my wagon.

All the holes are there. I converted my 90 sedan from FWD to AWD, and all the bolt holes are present. It's just a matter of swapping the AWD stuff in.

AND it's even worse when you're doing it in your back yard and trying to get the differential in and drop it on your chest and get a bruise on your chest.............. the size of a foot ball.

NOT COOL!

Better than an entire XKE rear subframe (axles, brakes, spindles, diff, frame) falling on your shoulder and face from a foot and a half. Good thing there was a jack under one side - only 7 stitches!
