timming belt install quetions

i can't figure out how to get the idlers pullies on. i don't seem to have enough slack in the belt to get it on the pullies. so whats the trick or what am i doing wrong?

I had all the pullies on except the tensioner pulley. I had the tensioner depressed and pinned, and the belt on and being held in place with clamps. Then I attached the tensioner pulley and removed the pin from the tensioner itself.
I tried it with all the pullies on, but couldn't do it, even with the tensioner pinned and the tensioner pulley free to move.

I did this with dohc heads, but I had all the pulleys on with the belt sitting on the cams. If you put the belt over all the pulleys except the lower left one, it seems to be able to pop right on.

Nice to know for when I go DOHC.....
I just had to do this last week on my brother's '94 wagon.

there is one grear/pulley/whatever that has a cone shaped front.
that is the LAST pulley you should try to put the belt on. fit it on all the others first and then slide it onto that one.
