I just picked up a set of heads, I have :

1. WRX short block so it has the nipple on the oil pan.
2. EJ22T heads so they have the coolant nipples.
3. VF-11 turbo with wastegate and BOV.
4. up/down pipe, and exhaust manifold.
5. What LOOKS like the plastic pipe that would hook up from the intake manifold to either the intercooler or that wider pipe on the turbo's cool side.
6. What LOOKS like the oil-coolant feed and return lines.


Getting the:
1. Clutch-flywheel of a 2.5liter (WRX flywheel doesn't fit a 94 1.8L AWD tranny does it?)
2. Timing belt (2.2L since I have 2.2 heads, right?)
3. Coolant, oil
4. Saab 900 Intercooler (wont this work on a 1.8L intake mani without cutting or banging?).
5. Some type of Emanagement even though I don't want to raise boost levels I was told I have to get one or risk blowing up my engine.

Since I don't have the time or cash to buy everything I want to re-use my 1.8L pulleys and timing belt covers as well as everything else besides the water and oil pump on the EJ205. I'm guessing I wont have any issues with that eh'?

I'd like to know if there is a site or manual that would help me figure out what the oil and coolant return and feed lines look like and go and what the heck those small nipples on the BOV and wastegate lead to and what I need to connect those too.

I've been searching for hours at NASIOC and here and have found no pictures to help me out.

Give us a little more background on your project. What's this going into? I'm assuming that you pulled a 1.8 from a Impreza and want to swap in a 2.0L with 2.2 heads.

There are a few guys that have Turbo'ed their 1.8L's on rs25.com so you might want to look there if you haven't already for some tips.

Oh, and if you don't have a front crossmember from a turbo subaru, you will need to notch out your stock one or replace it with a turbo one. The uppipe hits the crossmember.

I don't think there is too much more to tell. I have a 1994 Impreza 1.8L M/T AWD with just rims, exhaust and regular maintenance.

The parts I have are:

VF-11 with BOV and WasteGate
EJ205 short block with oil-water pump, no heads (damn near new, hope it works)
EJ22T heads (scrubbed them clean)
EJ22T headers, up, down pipe
This black pipe that looks like it goes into the intake manifold and gets smaller at the tip that looks like it plugs into the turbo outlet.
This weird metal tube with a ball at each end.

I need to get a:
Flywheel-clutch to take the power
RRFPR OR(?) an E-Manage
E-Manage (Do I need any extra sensors like a fuel or air harness?)
Turbo crossmember

Since I have near no money and want an intercooler that would fit with little or no banging on my 1.8L intake manifold would a Saab900 intercooler do that for me?


I appreciate that link very much and it helped me under stand a thing or two but I'm not even sure what the heck half of those things are as far as them being on my N/A car. Is there anyone on this site that knows what the stock lengths and diameters are for the oil-coolant feed lines (are there any other lines?) and what those nipples at the tip of the BOV and wastegate and what those hook to so I can just go buy some stock silicon hosing and cut it as needed?

I'm so far in and am running out of time and money. Once I get those hoses figured out this is going to help me allot.
As far as installing it, I don't think I can really cross lines too much.

Oh, and if I decide to throw my block and heads in can't I throw in the turbo and its piping later without taking out the engine?

So many questions I know and I spend almost all of my free time reading as much as I can yet I cannot find these answers. Ever if 1 person cannot answer all these questions can anyone else put there input in here?

I ran all the lines I needed with a $15 Misc. silicone hose kit from Autozone and 8 foot sections of 3/4 and 5/8 heater hose. Hell, part of my intercooler hose is truck rad. hose

It always gets worse before it gets better, but it'll be worth it when you're done.

I'm using a stock VF-11 wastegate and BOV and that pipe with 2 balls turned out to be the Oil inlet pipe but I still don't see what that hooks up to.
On page 167 there is a 'bracket' or item #7. Does this hold the turbo? Do I need one because it looks like the exhaust is enough to hold the turbo up.
Also on page 167 is a Turbo cooling pipe(5) and an Oil outlet pipe(6), neither of witch it looks like I have. I'm thinking I need these but can I just use a silicon hose in their place? They looks pretty complicated but what is there to do?
I also assume that those things like boost control silonoid and others wont be needed on my car.
So the nipple on the tip of the wastegate goes into the intake manifold (I have to drill since I have an N/A intake manifold?) and the nipple at the tip of the BOV goes where?

I need a reliable car for school and you asked what I'm planning on doing with this, a Greddy E-Manage and stock boost levels of an EJ22T's VF11 (7 or 8? PSi). I also need a boost gauge to watch the boost but if its wastegated at 7 or 8 PSi do I need one or do wastegates fail?

I'm feeling so much better now. Things are starting to clear up...
