Driveshaft fix

I have a feeling that I have a bad u-joint in my driveshaft and from searching I found they were not replaceable. I called a local driveshaft repair place and he informed me that they indeed were not replaceable, but he could get a shaft from a place in California and it would be $450 with a $60 core. That to me means they are rebuilding them.
I searched and found wholesaleimportparts.com and gave them a call as they didn't list a shaft for the 5 spd. He checked with some people and said they could do a 5 spd. shaft, but it would have a single bearing instead of the constant velocity joint that is there now. I guess the auto car shaft is this way and I think I remember that from my search on this bbs. The price was $369 and when I asked if the joints were replaceable on their shaft he said yes. They evidently do some machining to the things in order to make them this way.
It sounds like the way to go for me. I am going to have to take mine out and check it out, but with the squeak I heard today and the vibrations I am pretty well resigned to spending the money because I know what those problems usually are.
Thought this info might help someone else out.
