"Manual" mode question..

Post by summersfuneral »

I believe that my tranny is automatically switching into "manual" mode at random times.. Sometimes when I let off the gas the car seems to loose whatever gear its in then next thing I know I'm pulling 3000 rpms doin 45mph... then if I let off the gas they drop to like 500 till I give it gas again.. So am I correct in assuming that the "manual" mode is being activated.. Seeing as how it suposed to ignore first gear???

Please help!!!!!

I don't think you're in manual mode....

The transmission does not shift back into first unless you come to a complete stop....and will shift into 4th gear even at lower speeds to reduce engine rpms & improve gas mileage.

Without more info...it sounds like everything's normal.

Without more info, I can only think of that maybe your Throttle Position Sensor is out of whack.

What info do you need... It's basically slipping out of gear, and pulling crazy high rev's at 45 (about 3000). But I will try to get the that sensor replaced and let you know... Thanks the help!
