Didn't know if this should go in the DIY or not...but oh well. It will get moved if needed.
I installed the HKS 3" on my Legacy tonight. Started at 11pm...just got home. Its 4:10am.
What a bitch. I have never hated a car so much in my life!! I yelled, screamed, kicked, stomped, threw things. I even spat on the stock flange because I was so ashamed of its design. Who ever designed these damn cars and placed the nuts and bolts and brackets where they currently reside needs to be shot. If they are already dead, their bodies need to be exhumed, set on fire, pissed on, shot, slapped, stabbed and hung and left to rot some more. AAAHHHHHH!!!!
But man it's nice!! :-D
That stock dp was a shit tube. 2" of rusted fury, catted with 90 degree bends. Worthless. And it weighs a good 20+ lbs where as the HKS is maybe 2 lbs.
The sound...great. At idle you get the smooth yet menacing grumble. On the highway, at cruising speed it's nice and quiet. When you open it up the turbo is loud and clear and the grumble returns. Acceleration is smooth and responsive with vastly improved torque across the power band and quicker, smoother spooling of the turbo. I noticed a slight drop in psi from over a half bar to about 6 1/2 - 7 psi, just under half bar. A little turn of the MBC will solve that.
Now its time to bogart some 3" piping and ebay a decent muffler...cause this is the life of a, the life of a, broke nigga! Broke nigga!
Thanks again Mike for the dp. I owe you.
Many thanks to Myles and Dangerdan for staying up till all hours battling 16 year old bolts.
Sorry to the neighbors for launching the stock dp across the street after my initial conquest.
...I broke the o2 sensor...oops.

Oh yeah, I'll snap some pics tomorrow.
