Are you intertested in having HID headlights?

I have been talking with the guys at www.lightwerkz.net about retrofitting some HIDs into post-facelift headlights (although i'm sure it would be just as easy to fit them into pre-facelift). I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a group buy. Also the only headlights I could find on ebay were pretty pricey (~$130 each) so if any vendors out there (blackbart) have some extra headlight housings lying around they would like to round up I know I would buy a set from them.

Can they fabricate the clear, non-faceted, covers that would be required?

If they can, the U-pull type yards around here can puke up quite a few sets. All yellowed, but the covers are being replaced anyways.

I doubt pre-facelift will be as easy. The headlight unit mounts to a metal bracket containing the aiming aparatus. Anything that may have to extend behind the OEM headlight body would require modification to the bracket and, possibly, the inner car body. Any modification to the bracket can alter its strength and cause issues with aiming and movement over bumps.

The post-facelift is a larger, bracketless unit which would be MUCH easier to change out.

How exactly would the retrofit work. I don't get it but am interested since our headlight famously stink...Thanks in advance for additional info. AW

Angel eyes would be pretty darn cool!!!

Here's how it might go - not sure how this process would work with a group buy? Basically we could do a group deposit and then ONE of us could send in a set of lights to see if they can retrofit. It looks like they use TSX projectors into the WRX headlight casings but they'd have to figure out what works in our housing ahead of offering any quote b/c they just wouldn't know what hardware to spec and how long it takes them labor wise. Someone needs to go first here...

Basically how it works now... You send in a deposit and they order your parts (which they've already figured out). Then you mail in your lights and they install all to be plug and play and ship back to you. Your car is sans lights for 3-5 days.

Now I know that tuner shops in Seattle area do these kind of installs but I don't think any of them do this 1. full time as a sole business 2. offer OEM equiptment from other mfgrs as opposed to aftermarket.

So...

These guys look like the bomb. Kudos to Know1 for fronting this idea.

Rock!

we are talking around $300 to $700 per the pricing on the web site. This is expensive stuff, what we're waiting for is someone to pony up. So...

That's not bad pricing actually. You get what you pay for and if you're serious about lighting, then that isn't bad. Hell, as an OEM on new cars, they usually cost well over a grand. My 90mm Hella upgrade cost about $300 and still looks like ass with lighting that's good, but not HID. Someday I'll finish it so it looks nice, but then if you factor in a (electric) plastic welder and material, you're looking at close to double what I paid so far.

Yes, I agree but I don't really see a group buy here. This is a service not a product...Who's going first? I don't have the scratch right now...

Otherwise this thread is dead.

Agreed. There does not look to be a group buy being offered here. I would agree that this thread seems dead.
