Tristan's Hello!

Hey gang,
I know I've been a major douche in A) not posting as often as I should and B) not keeping up around here
but, my life has been BUSY! (well, kinda, I guess)

I just wanted to drop a line to those old-schoolers who know me and haven't heard from me in a long time.
So this last Feb I lost my job with the great fortune 500 company I had been working for for the last year or so, and my life kinda changed, as it usually should.
I went to the mountain, learnt to board and smoked hash on top of pot and worked as a lift operator. (the three things I got paid to do! :) ) since that ended in april, I've kinda been doing nothing -- didn't quite see the need to really have a job (not to mention there isn't much I'm interested in doing, anyway) so I dawdled and hungout, spent quality time with my brother, Trevor.
Fast Forward to this august:
on the 22nd (bout a week ago) I moved to Port Richey, FL. A friend I had met in spokane got transferred down there after she graduated college, and since we hit it off so well, she wanted me to come be with her. so I did. I shipped all my clothes and shit down there and off I went!
I've been in this small town for about a week and a half now, and although there isn't much to do, its alright to be in a new place doing something different. I still don't have a job, hehehe. but I'm working on that. :/

I know there was a lot of you back home that I didn't get to see before I left, and unfortunately, because it was raining the weekend before I took off, all my group plans failed. I want to apologise to all of you I didn't get to say goodbye to. I really am sorry. to make it worse, I'm still pretty homesick for the one place I know best: the northwest. if any of you are comtemplating leaving far far away, do as you wish, but there's no place like home. (josh, maybe you feel me on that one?)

I miss my car. I didn't get to take it with me, so Trevor is driving it around puyallup, as people roll up on it expecting to see me behind the wheel -- ''Hey Tris-- wait, you're not Tristan!'' hehe, yeah, my baby has to stay behind until I can arrange a transport for it. (coming soon!)
on the other hand, I get to drive a brand new 07 civic! yeah, I know, its a civic, but I actually like driving a brand new car where everything works in it. the hydraulic clutch is great (not so much on the double shifting) and its so quiet, its hard to tell I'm doing 90+, as opposed to my car where it gives a pretty good audio indicator as to how fast you're going. Also, there's no winding roads here. everything is flat, and spread out so much, theres nothing to do 'cept open it up wide to see how fast you can go before you hafta stop. and its true, florida drivers are HORRIBLE! I see like 5 accidents a day, and that's just leaving my apartment!

I miss all of you and I promiseonce I get the damn ibook fixed, I'll be on more regularly and posting. so I wanted to let you all know I'm okay, and that I still think about the bbs often, even if I'm not around and posting.

best,

tristan

Good to hear from Tristan.

Sounds like things are going pretty well for you. Living in a new town is hard sometimes but it's worth it if you left for a solid reason. I certainly miss VA but living out here has a lot of perks. I'm sure FL has a lot of sweet things too. I had a friend who had grown up down there and always talked about it. How close to the beach are you? You did well too, working as a lift operator and then moving to FL at the end of summer. Good timing :).

Good luck with the ibook, BBS has been missing that 'refined sense of rice' for a while.... ;). Again, good to hear from you and hope things continue to go great.

Hey Tris, sorry I wasn't able to hang out Monday night. Stupid school!

Hopefully I'll be able to get caught up one of these weekends and meet up with you.

Good luck with finding employment, etc.!

Lee, Reed, Thanks guys! One day I'll return to the NW, but for now it sounds like I'm headed further east. More details to come!

How much farther east can you go? Let me know if you need someone to drive your car down there.
The WRX brakes you sold me are workin great, btw.

You can go further east, but first you have to go north.

Whoa, beater subi, I haven't heard from you in awhile! I'm glad those worked out for you --great stopping power, huh?

I may or may not need someone to drive the car down, but, it's getting driven by one of my good homies back home, and he's also offered to work on it in exch for being able to keep it longer. I'm sending him and trevor to my house today to pick up all my usable parts. Since mom got so excited about me leaving, she wants to throw all my stuff out! (NOT cool!) Also, he's a hydraulic repair tech (and a damn good one, too!) he wants to mod the car a little bit to play with it --Apparently i'm not the only one who thinks its fun to drive! I'm just glad it doesn't have to get stored permanently until I get back to it. And it needs the work, too --people do 90 on the freeway down here like it's nothing at all. Unfortunately, that's about as fast as the car goes, and I can't run it like that all the time. And AC is a must in cars, and I took it out during the swap, so I dunno what I'm gonna do about that. . .

Anyway, thanks for the well-wishing guys!

There is a name for the drivers in Florida. . . . Floridiots.

You can thank Jason Grahn for that one! ;)
