Hello, would it be possible to convert my 91 legacy L wagon to anti-lock brakes? There is a salvage yard which has a 91 Legacy LS with anti-lock brakes, and the car has barely been touched. What would I need to pull to make it work?

It would be a very involved swap. You would have to get the brake lines, wiring to the wheels, different proportioning valve, master cylinder, the abs computer & electronic sensors......it's just not worth it IMO.

The more common mod is to take the abs out why on earth would you want the crappy abs that these cars have? Stopping on gravel wet tarmac and snow is impossible with the factory abs in 1990-94 subaru legacys. I always take the abs fuse and throw it in the garbage. You really don't want this mod... Just my opinion I guess but i'm sure there is people with me on this!

Not to mention you'd have to swap all four hubs, because you need a place for the ABS sensors and tone wheels.

There are benefits to ABS, don't get me wrong, but if it means that much to you, get a car with it. It's still not worth all that work.

On snow and gravel, it's worthless, OK, but on the road???

Overhere I never drive on gravel or snow, and I'm very happy with the antilock brake system that's on my 92 2.2 Legacy

But swapping the entire system will take about a week

I'm not going to do the conversion. I was just curious what all would be involved. My current brakes work great.
