I have a 1990 legacy 2wd 2.2 5spd. It's stock and the exhaust is basically rotten. Are there aftermarket headers and are they worth the money? Where's the best place to find oem manifolds? I'm interested in modifying this car for a little dragstrip test and tune and some autocrossing.

I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE TO GET HEADERS TO FIT OUR N/A CARS. LOOKS LIKE THE ONES I'VE FOUND EXIT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE. I DON'T MIND FABBING A CONNECTION PIPE IF THE HEADERS FIT THE CAR PROPERLY.

man this forum moves slow...guess legacy owners are a small audience
Went to the local subaru parts dealer to get a manifold gasket and a bolt. Turns out the gasket they gave me isn't the same one on my car. They gave me a single hole gasket and I have a double hole gasket. Now I'm wandering if I have the stock engine or if some previous owner got creative. I had to tap one of the studs since it broke or rusted off. They should have just used bolts instead of studs. Anyhow, that was a temp fix as my exhaust is rusting away...does anybody have an answer?

nope, noone got creative. all 90-94's got 2 exhaust port heads. even many later models got them.
i for one would appreciate a quick chime in about header options with or without fabbing in a pipe to connect to the intermediate pipe.obx el??????

Yor have to look for headers for the 2.5RS.... check Ebay.
Basically any NA Subie exhaust will fit your car, tho if you go with a stock item, check for O2 bungs and extra cats that might mess up your install.

Borla makes some, but they are 2x what those eBay headers are
the 2.5L and 2.2L exhaust ports are the same so they bolt up, but i think the exit is on the wrong side, i think thats right...
if they do its no big problem, just have a shop fab up some pipes
they are unequal length as well, they will sound awesome, but you want see a very decent gain from them
Cobb used to make equal lengths for the ej25, but i think they stopped making them
