Fuel pump not working, bad ground?

My fuel pump gave out a couple of weeks ago. Before buying a new one. I did the usual check of the plugs under the rear seat. Tested the pump for power. Everything seamed fine, pump was getting 12vs. Removed pump and tested it by "jumping" directly to a battery. It didn't move at all.

So i bought a new pump, installed it, turned the key the first time and it make a noise. The car turned over and started to fire then stopped.

I checked and there was no fuel being pumped. Checked for power again and the pump is still getting 12vs. I even put in another working pump i have for a N/A 2.2 just to see if it will pump any fuel. Still nothing.

So i checked the plug under the seat for a ground w/out power running with a ohm meeter. I get a ground at that plug when the plug at the pump is plugged in, but no ground when it's not. So doesn't that mean that i am grounding out through the pump but not back though the wiring harness to the body somewhere? Which wouldn't work while power is actually running through it, right?

Does anyone have any experience with where that harness grounds? Or am i barking up the complete wrong tree? Any other thoughts regarding fuel pump issues would be appreciated.

Oh yes is on the 93 t-leg in my sig.

Thanks.

was the noise you herd comming for the fuel pump? if it was, then the pump is working. if not, check the wires for continuity.

(set your multi-meter to ohms, unplug the connector at the fuel pump. take your (+) lead to one end of the circuit and the (-) lead lead to the other end and if it reads OL then you have a open/short. but if you do get a reading, then you have a complete circuit, and you problem is somewhere else. make sure the sock filter isnt pluged up.)

after you find/fix/correct your electrical problem, check you fuel system for plugs/kinks, check the fuel fliter, and fuel pressure. good luck hope that helps you fix your problem.
