The goodies are gonna start rollin' in!! Build time!

Ok, so I've had to wait until now to get some free cash from working my extra job wiring the local dealership's 6 locations with all new Cat6 wiring so their network is up to date. Of course it's now getting down to the very low 30's at night and highs are in the upper 50's. Oh well...

At least after being VERY patient, I've managed to pick up a brand new TurboXS DTEC fuel controller w/ GameBoy ($380 retail) and TurboXS Fuel Cut Defender ($130 retail) for the total sum of $265!! Gotta love eBay and hella good deals on NASIOC!!!!! Unfortunately, the NASIOC member tanked his motor and needed to sell off his extras to afford another short block or a full rebuild. As for the eBay auction, there were only 2 bids... Go figure.

I'm also now in the process of picking up an STi fuel pump from a local buddy, purchasing STi 550cc injectors (only 7k miles) from a NASIOC member, and the extreme possibility of a TD05H-16g (big 16) from another NASIOC member. Grand total.... $370! Yup, you read that corretly.

So it looks like I REALLY need to get my buddy off his ass to come down to my place and help me cut up the WRX U/P & D/P to make the turbo clear the 2.5 N/A intake manifold. That's pretty much all I really need to get it going (besides stupid misc. exhaust gaskets & missing hoses).

Of course, I still have an EXTREMELY weak link in my build. The 4EAT tranny. So some time in January, I'm hoping to pick up a WRX 5MT and matching rear diff. So by then I'll have my 3.90 LSD for sale. I'll likely sell the tranny to Scott (Tleg-93) for cheap since he's a die-hard user of the automatics.

WRX Trannies are not 4.11...except the 4EATs

5MTs are 3.90 Front and 3.54 rear

That's right... DUH! I totally forgot about them working with the stock rear diff IF you swap over the center diff gearing to the stock Legacy setup. My bad...

you just have to get 1:1 transfer gears, I think they run about 300$ I traded some stuff for mine. But if you get a wrx tranny with a diff, you might as well just use that. I didnt get one, and I have a R180 sti rear diff lying around (3.9) so its a better option for me than finding a wrx diff.

Well, I'd like to keep the 3.90 LSD if possible. So I might just try that out then (transfer gears). I have a stock SS 5MT sitting next to my garage (legacy92ej2t's old tranny he tanked 2nd gear in) that I could pull parts from if they'd work. I've researched a LOT on the motor build at this point, but I've been lacking in the transmission research... :(

I am not sure on the SS tranny, but I know an impreza tranny you can just swap the whole tail section with the center diff adn the gears. I thought about that but decided I wanted to buy new transfer gears so I could keep the wrx center diff and tail section. personal preference...

Hardy Har har...

I'm a fan of circumstance at this juncture. If I could have me a manual I'd surely have it but it doesn't seem to be in the cards.

I'm sorry, could you please turn that up? I'm hard of seeing... (j/k)

Well, I got the TurboXS DTEC F/C today and I'll be paying for the TD05H-16g tomorrow. I should have the STi injectors paid for this week too. Can't wait!

Uh huh, suuuuuuuure ya did Scott.

I've already been asked if I'm trying to build some kind of STi killer... Ummm, no.

I just want something that rivaled what Matt (legacy92ej22t) use to have driving past my house each day making me more & more jealous each time he went by.
His was a solid well tuned car that didn't look like anything special but sure as hell took off once your foot started french-kissing the accelerator pedal. That's all I'm looking for really.

Once you get there and I get my boost controller, FCD, exhaust some other odds and ends we'll have to put it to the test.
